Emmett Till
I originally just wanted to post a song or two from one of my favorite bands since they are still around and playing because all of the music I usually post is old enough to drink.
But what started as a happy fun post turned into something as vile as it is ugly.
I always wondered what their name -Emmet Swimming- meant, so I went looking around for some background information to entice you into giving them a listen. I am sorry I found out.
Emmet Swimming is a misspelled reference to Emmett Till, a black youth who was brutalized, tortured and murdered in Mississippi in 1955 - "the idea of the name is basically that a 14 year old boy should be swimming in the river, not dying in it."
